Antioxidant Awakening
Antioxidant Awakening

Fun fact: I have oatmeal that I make the night before in my mini crock pot every single morning. It is my very favorite breakfast food! So naturally a restaurant that serves nothing but oatmeal deserves my attention. After trying this amazing place once, I soon returned with my friends and I think about it every time I am in the neighborhood. You can choose from a variety of innovative and healthy sweet or savory toppings, create your own, or venture to the dessert portion of the menu. The first time I came here I ordered the “Antioxidant Awakening” which contains Greek yogurt, dried pomegranate seeds, dark chocolate chips, chia seeds, and agave. It was the best oatmeal combination I have ever tried! I especially loved the fact that the chocolate melted and mixed throughout the whole bowl. The yogurt gave it a tart taste but the agave added a nice accent to sweeten it up. The next time I went, I got the “Pumpkin Pie” because as you all probably know by now, I have an obsession with pumpkin (and please, do not place me into the “white-girl-loves-her-pumpkin-spice-latte-group” because I only take my coffee black). Anyway, this one was filled with pumpkin purée swirl, pecans, brown sugar, pumpkin spice, and milk. I enjoyed it so much that ever since trying it I have put pumpkin puree in my oatmeal. It is just so simple, delicious, and healthy! If you love your oatmeal, you are in for a treat. If you aren’t sure if you like it, this is the perfect place to give it a try. Happy eating, everyone!

Ample Hills….Again

Ample Hills Creamery is just so good that I had to take some other friends, Cerisse and Ashley, there to give it a try. Thankfully, since the flavors rotate daily at Gothom Market, I got to try completely different ones! I ordered a scoop each of “The Munchies” and “Snap, Mallow, Pop.” I cannot even put into words how amazing these flavors were. “The Munchies” is filled with exactly what you would imagine given the name…pretzel-infused ice cream with clusters of Ritz crackers, potato chips, pretzels and mini M&Ms. The sweet and salty mixture of flavors created an explosion in my mouth. The combined ingredients worked in unison to make one mean scoop of ice cream. “Snap, Mallow, Pop” is a deconstructed rice krispie treat: made with marshmallow ice cream and buttery Rice Krispie clusters. The texture of both of these selections made them incredibly satisfying and fun to eat. Every bite was like diving into a pool of crispy, sweet and salty, thick, refreshing milk…wait what. Okay forgot that, but please please try out a flavor from this creative ice cream shop! Happy eating, everyone!
