Bringing Paris Back

Absolutely missing Paris, Erika and I visited a fantastic French bakery across from campus. Since we now have incredibly high standards for our croissants and pastries, we were very pleased by how well this bakery stood up to those in France. Honestly better than some we found in actual city, this cafe was filled with the charm and comfort typical in Europe. We ordered the Almond Croissant, which studying here has made me obsessed with, and the Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant! They were beautifully flaky, sweet, and delicious. I don’t think I will ever understand the art behind making an almond croissant, with such a thick filling inside of a light pastry. I am telling you, if you have not tried one, get on it! Unless you are in the United States…then maybe you should wait until you visit Europe. I wouldn’t want to steer you wrong. The other pastry that we tried was filled with warm chocolate and crushed hazelnuts, a spread much more authentic and rustic than Nutella. The atmosphere was half the fun of this little cafe, as Erika and I sat in there for hours discussing and reflecting on our trip so far. Great job, Montparnasse Cafe, for bringing me back to one of my favorite cities so far.
